Abstract

ABSTRACT

The thesis entitled  “A Study of Instructional model on the Tri-sikkha of Buddhist Way School : A case study of Banbo  school, Bandong sub-district, Ubonratana district, Khonkaen province” had three objectives : 1) to study the concept, theory, history, and the development of the educational management of the Buddhist ideological schools, 2) to study the module of the educational management based on Tisikkha (Three-Fold Training) of Banbo School, and 3) to do analysis of organizing the learning activities based on the three-fold trainings of Banbo School, Bandong sub-district, Ubolratana district, Khonkaen province. This study was conducted based on qualitative research methodology, and collecting the data from field work study.

The result of the study found that, in order to develop the three aspects of the learners, the Buddhist ideological schools mainly organized the learning processes based on the three-fold training namely, Pabba (wisdom), educated the learners to think creatively, fostered them with the right attitude, and focused on managing what they had learned into remarkable single unit; Sila (morality), trained the learners to act morally in all three action-verbal, mental, and bodily-to understand the reality of lives and to live with the right livelihood; Samadhi (concentration), guided the learners to practice mental cultivation in order to realize the reality of the world - to see things as they really are.

In the case of implementing the institute’s educational curriculum, Banbo School processed the learning activities in accord with the Buddhist principles, especially in line with Buddhist ethis in all aspects “eat, live, and observe”. Moreover, Banbo School was very concerned about the surrounding environment of the institute; therefore, in accord with the principles of Buddhist ideological schools, the atmosphere of the school was really suitable in organizing the learning activities based on the three-fold training.

Last but not the least, this study also found from the analytical approach that the educational officers in the Banbo School followed the Buddhist way of living. on one hand, they were very good example to the learners, educated the students to concern about ethis applied suitable teaching materials and technology for learning activities, and they evaluated the result of the study based on empirical and practical aspects in the real situation. These led the Banbo School to be one of the successful Buddhist ideological schools.
