Abstract

 

Abstract

This research has three objectives, namely, 1) to study basic data of Sangha in the area of Krasang district, Buriram province 2) to study effectiveness of working according to the Sangha’s mission in Krasang district, Buriram province 3) to critically study problems, obstacles, and advices in Sangha administration in the area of Krasang district, Buriram province.

The results are found as follows:

1.             According to the basic data of the Sangha in Krasang district, Buriram province, there are three Ecclesiastical District Officers, namely, 1) Phrakhruprasansanggakic 2) Phrakhrusangvaraphirak 3) Phrakhruvisutthinanthasan. There are totally seventy temples. The administration is ruled by the Sangha  Administration Act (second edition) B.E. 2535 Article 15 and Regulations of Association of the Eldest Monks which conform to the principles of Dhamma and Vinaya

2.             The working effectiveness of the Sangha in Krasang district, Buriram province is found that; in the administration affairs, the Sangha manipulates the rules, regulations, and orders which are in accordance with Dhamma and Vinaya to govern the members of Sangha; in the religious study affairs, the Sangha encourages monks and novices to have education and develop the educational personnel; in the educational assistance affairs, the Sangha set up the education fund for children and youths, educate virtues to children by establishing schools and Buddhist Sunday Centre within the temples including Buddhism propagation to general people; in the propagation affairs, the Sangha has got Buddhist missionary to disseminate Dhamma to youths and general people; in the public assistance affairs, the Sangha provides buildings and develop the temple surroundings; in the public support affairs, the Sangha gives all types of facilities to people and cooperation to the state in terms of public relations.

3.             Problems of the Sangha in Krasang district, Buriram province are found  that; in the administration affairs, there are problems of monks and novices’ behaviours and the abbots’ leadership lacking;   in the religious study affairs, there are less number in Pali studies and lacking of Pali teachers; in the educational assistance affairs, the Sangha cannot fully provide to the need and wanting of people and lacks of sufficient skill in management; in the propagation affairs, there are three main problems i.e. the lacking of qualified preachers, less interest to listen to Dhamma of people, and less support from the governmental section; in the public assistance affairs, the Sangha never gets helping from the governmental section; in the public support affairs, the Sangha and the abbots lack of readiness for getting work done. Advices of the Sangha in Krasang district, Buriram province are found that; in the administration affairs, the Sangha should build stimulus to the members and the leaders should evade the four prejudices and use various strategies in administration; in the religious study affairs, the Sangha should build leadership to teachers, set up the education fund, and find the qualified teacher; in the propagation affairs, the Sangha should develop the preachers with worldly and religious sciences; in the public assistance affairs, the state section should give support to the Sangha continuously; in the public support affairs, the Sangha should build the ability and good attitude to the members of the Sangha.
