A research at this time is of the following objectives; 1. To study the role of Buddhist monks who teach the morality for moral and ethical development in the secondary education level, in Mueang Nakhonpathom District, Nakhonpathom Province, as the students’ idea. 2. To take comparison of the role of Buddhist monks who teach the morality for moral and ethical development in the secondary education level in Muang Nakhonpathom District, Nakhonpathom Province as students’ idea which is classifical as personal factors. 3. To study the problems and obstacles as well as suggestions on the role of Buddhist monks who teach the morality for morale and ethical development in the secondary education level in Muang Nakhonpathom District, Nakhonpathom province. It’s the way of Mixed Method Research using Quantitative Research which was method of survey Research and Qualitative Research by the way of collecting data with the way of In-depth Interview from the key informant.
The sampling group used in research is the 354 students who have been studying in the lower secondary education school in Muang Nakhompathom District, Nakhompathom Province. The sampling is in the style of cluster sampling. The instrument used is the Questionnaire having the character as the check list of evaluation 5 scales and open-ended questionnaires produced by the researcher. It’s confidential value equals 0.9755 and analyzing the data made by using the packaged program for social science research in order to find out the frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and testing the hypothesis by using T- test and F- test, with one way analysis of the variance to compare the difference between the mean of three groups up and to compare the difference in pair with the Least Significant Difference (LSD) and the statistical significance is determined at the level 0.05
From the research result, it has been found that :-
1. From the result of analyzing the students’ opinion of the role of Buddhist monks who teach the morality for moral and ethical development in the secondary education Level in Mueang Nakhonpathom District, Nakhonpathom Province, it has been found that the students’ opinion of the role of Buddhist monks who teach the morality for moral and ethical development in the secondary education, in general, is at the high level with the mean (= 4.03) Considering in aspects, it has been found that it is at the high level in every aspect. The aspect that is at the highest level is the activity in the school held for the moral and ethical development. At the secondary level, it is the moral and ethical development of education. The management of environment in the school for the moral and ethical development will be at the lowest level.
2. From the result of comparing the students’ opinion of the role of Buddhist monks who teach the morality for morale and ethical development in the secondary education level in Mueang Nakhonpathom District, Nakhonpathom Province, being separated by the individual status, it has bee found that the students whose gender, age, education and efficiency of study were different would not have the different opinion of the role of Buddhist monks who teach the morality for moral and ethical development in the secondary education level. This is hereby the set hypothesis rejected. The opinion of students studying in the different schools would be differentiated; this is hereby the set hypothesis accepted with statistical significance at the level 0.05
The result of analyzing the role of Buddhist monks who teach the morality for moral and ethical development in the level of secondary education was found that the school administrators have got the moral and ethical development in the secondary education as the curriculum of Dhamma study class 1, 2 and 3. The place for learning is convenient. There are teachers and professor taking care of instruction very nicely in order to produce their students with quality and potentiality. The schools are very significant educational institutes giving the knowledge to the children, youths and students in order that they can learn in different subjects, including social sciences, tradition, culture as well as the doctrines and religious etc., then they will be the important power to develop the country for more prosperity.
3. For the problems of the role of Buddhist monks who teach the morality for morale and ethical development in the secondary education level, it has been found that the media used for teaching the Buddhist subjects have not been modernized and not been in coincidence with the content. The condition of learning is not suitable for studying the Buddhist subject. The activities held were boring because they gave only looking and listening to the students all time without presenting or the chance to show. The curriculum used in the present is not flexible enough.
Suggestions on the role of Buddhist monks who teach the morality in moral and ethical development in secondary education level, that is, school administrators, teachers, lecturers and the people concerned should have the environmental management, such as having the sign post to show the list of students with outstanding good at ethic of schools, having used Buddhist proverbs, mote words, verses, and emphasizing the significance of the unity activity of communities as well as the activity in developing emotive maturity by promoting Dhamma practicing, at the same time, improving the curriculum of Bhuddhist subjects has to be done, its contents must be proper to the period of study and the potentiality of students in each level of chasses. |
