Abstract

Abstract

This dissertation is of three objectives, namely :- 1. to study Kusala Kammas          (good actions) leading to the beauty according to Theravada Buddhist Principles
 2. to analyze the relationship between Kusala Kammas and the beauty 3. To propose the way of building up Kusala Kammas leading to the beauty according to the Principles in Theravada Buddhism.

In the research, it is found that Kusala Kammas are the good actions which are the actions to build up the benefits to oneself and to societies. The good actions are called Puñña and it’s result arising from Puñña which is the happiness. In the 3 Puññas – Kiriyā Vatthus, it is mentioned about the 3 Principles of making the 3 merits, namely :- Dānamaya, Sīlamaya and Bhāvanāmaya. So, to offer the Dāna , to observe the Precepts and to develops the mentality are the ways of building up the good actions leading to the beauty, Because the beauty does not arise by chance, but it has arisen from the building up of Kusala Kammas from the past up to the present. If everybody wishes for the beauty to appear in the body, the speech and the mind, everybody must be of the aim to build up many good actions. In the general ways, the good actions will arise from the observing of Dāna and the preserving of the precepts. These two actions will clear the results. One who performs Kusala Kammas will be of the mental happiness which arises from making the merits. The result of the merit causes the  bodily and the verbal beauty to arise. The beauty appearing in the Buddhist Scriptures consists of both the outside and the inside beauties such the Buddha’s 32 personal characteristics which are of the outside beauty of the most perfect ones. The inside beauties are the beauties arising from behaving oneself in the precepts and in the Dhammas. The beauties are the ones which everybody can build up. At the Budda’s time, there were many people who behaved themselves as the good exemplary people such as Queen Phusadee, Queen Mallika and Visākha  Upāsikā . The results of Kusala Kammas in Vimāvatthu. The benefit arising  from the practice of the Dhammas, and from the observation of the 5 precepts, the 8 precepts, and the observing of Dāna to the Sangha help the people to have garlands of the flowers and have the near people. The advantage arising from paying the respect to the monks causes one to have a beautiful skin.

The way of making the merit leading to the beauty according to the Buddhist principles is to offer Dāna, to preserve the precepts and to develop the meditation beginning from the good thought, the good speech and the good action. The Buddhism taught that everything arises from Kamma which is of a relation from the past  to the present. So, Kusala Kammas and the beauties are of the relationships. All the Kusala Kammas can cause one to be of beauty by keeping the people’s minds to be strong.
