This dissertation is a mixed methods research that has three objectives: (1) to study the concentration development in Buddhism, (2) to study the Western process of enhancement of creativity and (3) to apply the model of meditation practice to enhance designers’ creativity. This research has six methodological steps: (1) a group seminar which comprises of two meditation teachers, two design teachers and three design students was done in search of an appropriate meditation technique for enhancing the creativity, (2) documentaries related to the development of concentration and creativity were studied, (3) the preliminary survey of numbers of 77 students in first year was carried out, (4) the 6 numbers of experts in meditation practice and creativity were interviewed, 5) 30 designers were tested by form of try-outs and 6) the forms of creative test were practically evaluated by applied model of meditation practice.

It was found that the suitable technique of training and the promotion of the principle of the right view are the essential quality in the creativity. There are as follows: 1) Yonisomanasikãra (Reasoned attention) refers to the encouragement of having faith and understanding of precepts, Kamma (Actions) and its results and loving kindness which are conducive to the positive creativity, 2) Kalyãnamitta (Good friendship) means a trainer who can instruct and convince one to have faith in practicing concentration and application and then point out the way to acquire the process of creativity, 3) Paratoghosa (Another’s utterance; inducement by others; hearing or learning from others) involves the application of the convenient environment for training and the utilization of new media and the activity relevant to the content of such training.

As far as the applied model of meditation practice in enhancing designers’ creativity is concerned; it can be summarized into three steps: 1) the encouragement of having faith in Buddhist teachings, 2) the practice of concentration suitable to the designers’ characteristic and behavior and 3) the training of creative thinking process.

          The conclusion after the process of the pre-test and post-test in 3 categories: 1) Faiths, precepts, and Buddhist teachings, 2) Meditation Practice and 3) Creative thinking training are highly satisfied in overall by the target group. Respectively from high to low are the faith and Buddhist teaching ( = 4.17), the creative thinking practice ( = 4.12) and the meditation practice ( = 4.06).
