ABSTRACT
The objective of research “An analysis of the value of Iddipada (path of accomplishment) in Theravada Buddhism” is 1) to study the path of accomplishment in Theravada Buddhism 2) to analysis the value of path of accomplishment in Theravada Buddhism and 3) to apply the 4 Iddhipadas to develop the quality of life.
The result of research finds that;
1) The path of accomplishment was taught by the Buddha consists of Chanda means to make comfortable mind in good action or to develop our mind, Viriya means mind effort or right speech, Citta means strive and dedication and Vimamsa means understand or unconfusion.
2) The value of path of accomplishment is the succeed principle for the follower from the past to present. Besides this, the path of accomplishment calls long lived Dhamma (Ayuvatthana-Dhamma) meaning make the follower long life. The theme of this principle can support the practice, for example, when aspiration occurs to person he will effort for such work and can experience for realizing with consideration.
3) An application the 4 Iddhipadas to develope the quality of life is to use those principles for succeed work. To be appreciate on learning, to cultivate mind and to work called Chanda means learn how to success. To effort for developing mind and work or to attention and take high responsibility called Viriya means make mind and work for good quality. To dedicate our mind and concentrate our work or to learn and develop our mind called Citta. To consider and contemplate by knowledge or always improve called Vimamsa.
One should appreciate one’s work, continuous effort on one’s work, consider by various ways. To do so, one will success. To develop mind for high condition, one should follow the path of accomplishment. This principle can develop one to be good quality and can live in society with happiness. The path of accomplishment consists of aspiration (Chanda), effort (Viriya), dedication (Citta) and investigation (Vimamsa). This principle looks like a foundation of life. It can success in many condition such as study, mind developent, work and to depend on oneself.
