Problems and Guidelines of Sangha Residence Management in Suan Phueng District, Ratchaburi Province

Abstract

The objectives of research paper were (1) to study the general state of Sangha residence management in Suan Phueng district, Ratchaburi province, (2) to study the problems and obstacles of Sangha residence management in Suan Phueng district, Ratchaburi province, and (3) to propose the operational guidelines of Sangha residence management in Suan Phueng district, Ratchaburi province. The research methodology was the qualitative research, had the documentary analysis and interview as the tool to collect the data in the field study from 17 key informants and analyzed the data through the content analysis technique.

The findings of this research were as following:

1. The general state of Sangha residence management in Suan Phueng district, Ratchaburi province found that the administration aspect; the power and authority towards administration management depends on Sangha residence leader which must control and promote to have good security and safety according to Dhamma Vinnaya.  The religious education aspect; as the promoter and supporter to manage the education for the monks to be educated. The educational welfare aspect; as the work of welfare management for individual or Sangha organization.  For the Buddhism propagation aspect; to have the faith and confidence for preserving the longer Buddhism. The constructions aspect; to plan for construction and reconstruction of religious place to match with community. The public welfare aspect; to help the community and to make the better way of life in the community people. (1) hospitality and helping procedure; arranging the land of the temple for living by paying the rent at a cheap price, arranging a meditation training center for the general public, providing vocational training/short-term careers to the public, providing the cremation assistance for no relatives or poor people and establishing the cremation welfare fund, establishment of library for the public, and Thai traditional medicine or herbal garden within the temple.

2. The problems and obstacles of

 

Sangha residence management in Suan Phueng district, Ratchaburi province found that the administration aspect lacks of cooperation from subordinates and community. The religious education aspect  lacks of technology specialists. The educational welfare aspect lacks of promotion and budgetary support. For the Buddhism propagation aspect lacks of personnel training to have the knowledge for propagation. The constructions aspect lacks of cooperation from community for construction that after that it has the problem. The public welfare aspect lacks of cooperation with the community for policy making and cooperation policy.

3. The development guidelines of Sangha residence management in Suan Phueng district, Ratchaburi province found that the administration aspect should have the meeting and to take care including cooperating with harmony. The religious education aspect should recruit the educated person for technology usage. The educational welfare aspect should set up the committee and raise the foundation for activity support. For the Buddhism propagation aspect should have the for the monks who have the authority to propagate Buddhism to have the knowledge for variety of modern technology. The constructions aspect should have the master plan for the place within Sangha residence properly and cooperate with constructions government agency for constructions consult. The public welfare aspect should have the cooperation with the community for policy making and cooperation policy.
