Abstract

The Thesis entitled ‘An Analytical Study of the Rites and Values of Payamaccha-plachorn Preaching Ceremony In Lanna’ consists of 3 objectives as 1) to study the history and rituals of the Payamaccha-plachorn Preaching Ceremony in Lanna; 2) to study Buddhist principles in the Payamaccha-plachorn Preaching Ceremony in Lanna and 3) to synthesize the value of the Payamaccha-plachorn Preaching Ceremony in Lanna. This research uses documentary research method as follows:

The faith in this rain ceremony. Can be found in many cultures of the Tai people in Southeast Asia. Especially in culturally-based rain-fed cultures. They can be divided into two groups: the traditional rain ceremony and the Buddhist rain ceremony. The rain ceremony is a combination of traditional beliefs and beliefs in Buddhism such as; Payamaccha-plachorn scripture. There is a spell in Mughal Chant. This ritual will be a replica of the place in the allegory. The sacrifice was mad. And the sermon it was held only in the rainy years.

The principle of Buddhism that appeared in the preaching of Payamaccha-plachorn scripture in Lanna. There are 7 principles include; The Compassion of Buddha, The Truthfulness perfections,The virtues for lay people 4, The Five Precepts, The Five ennobling virtues, The Path of Accomplishment 4, The Bases of Social Solidarity 4 and The States of Conciliation 6.

The Values of Payamaccha-plachorn Preaching Ceremony the value of the five values is the value of gratitude to nature. The Value for social development,  The Value for Community harmony,  The Value for   Environmental conservation and  The Value for traditional preservation.
