Abstract

This research is of 3 objectives; - 1. to study the attainment of the Dhammas in Theravada Buddhist Scriptures, 2. to study Ven. Kumarakassapa Thera's biography and accumulation of the Perfections, 3. to study Ven. Kumarakassapa Thera's methods of practice which is the factors helping him to attain the Dhammas. This study is a qualitative research emplacing the Documentary research.

From the research, it is three that       

1. The attainment of the Dhammas in Buddhism means the development of the wisdom according to the principles of practicing the Insight Meditation in order to realize the 4 Noble Truths :- Dukkha, Samudaya, Nirodha and Magga in order of the mental state going to the sphere of Nibbāna which is called Ariya-Puggala obeging from Ven.Sotannā, Ven.Sakadāgāmi,Ven Anāgā up to Ven. Arahanta.

2. Ven. Phra Kumāra Kassapa is one of the 80 Mahāvākas. He was born in Vaisaya Caste. He was born while his mother was Bhikkhuni, because after his mother was of a child in her stomach, she did not know it, she went out for the ordination and when her stomach was higher, she knew it and she gave out the child from her stomach in the office of the Nun. The child was grown up in the of Bhikkhuni 's office. One day King Pasenadikosola came through this office and gave the order to look after him as his son and then he gave him the name Kassapha after time he was called as “Kumāra Kassapa”

He was ordained because he was of the wonderful mind about his own life. When to knew the fact that he was not King Pasenadikosola ' s son as he understood before but really the Bhikkuni 's son, he requested King Pasenadikosola to go out for ordination. King Pasenadikosola did not allow him. However, after the king found that he could not change his determination, the he allowed him to be ordained at the full age of 20 years. Then the Buddha ordained him first as a novice.

3. He attained the Dhammas, when his friend was born as Brahma at Sudhāvasa Level . When it was found that he was in trouble in developing the Insight Meditation, the 15 problems were set up and then he informed that nobody could answer such the questions, with the exception of the Buddha. In the next morning, he went to the Buddha and asked these problems from the Buddha. The Buddha, then, answered the problems up to Arahantaship. Ven. Theas studied as taught by the Buddha and then went to Matawan Forest and developed the Insight Meditation. Not long after such the development, they attained Arahantaships which are regarded as the highest state of Brahmacariya.
