Special fresh news of the community of the rectors of world Buddhist universities discussing Buddhist ethics taking interest in Vipassana meditation

At the present Buddhism becomes the religion that the people all over the world pay the attention to. Especially, education on Buddhism has been opened for the studies in Buddhist universities all over the world. Even the first class universities of the world that are operated by laymen have to open courses of Buddhist studies to meet the demand of the learning desire of the increasing students as well.
Just very recently, Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University hosted the conference of the rectors of international Buddhist universities and the first time international academic conference on Buddhism and Ethics at the Uposatha Hall in the middle of the lake, MCU, Wangnoi, Ayutthaya. The representatives of 116 Buddhist universities worldwide from 30 countries participated.
Phra Dharmakosajarn, Rector of MCU, as the chairman of International Association of Buddhist Universities (IABU), stating about the background of the arrangement said that on the international visakha puja day in 2550 the representatives of the Buddhists worldwide signed the Bangkok Declaration to establish the International Association of Buddhist Universities and to keep the main Secretariat Office at MCU as the center in establishing the academic network to exchange the information of research teaching, the personnel development and the courses of Buddhist studies both nationally and internationally.
On September 13-15, 2008 there was an academic conference to exchange ideas among the participants at MCU, Wangnoi, which consists of 8 panels namely, Buddhist Ethics and Economy, Buddhist Ethics and Education, Buddhist Ethics and the Youth Today, Buddhist Ethics and Literature, Buddhist Ethics and Mind Culture, Buddhist Ethics and Politics, Buddhist Ethics and Science, and Buddhist Ethics and Social Development.
The representatives of the universities participating in the conference have signed MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) for co-education under IABU and MoU of 116 Institutions.
His Holiness Somdet Phra Buddhacharya, President of the Executive Committee for the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand gave his homily speech saying that the occurrence of the International Association of Buddhist Universities has been that the countries paying due respect to Buddhism, the religion which is beneficial to the world, have made the persons staying therein take pride in their own countries.
The universities with the Buddhist studies from other countries have the opportunity to participate in exchanging ideas among one another. The fact that Thailand has the opportunity in working to serve the International Association of Buddhist Universities has been regarded as the dignity of Thailand and the MCU which serves according to the words of the Buddha.
Phra Dharmakosajarn briefing the result of this conference said that it is regarded a success as the representatives from the International Buddhist Universities co-signed MoU in four categories.
